Project Overview

A retired couple in a high-risk fire community wanted to replace their aging redwood decks with a fire-resistant, multi-level outdoor living space. The new design combines safety with luxury, featuring amenities such as glass canopies, heaters, a fan, and retractable insect screens. Additional spaces feature a fire pit, hot tub, shower, and an aptly named 'weather room,' protected on three sides with a view of the nearby hills on the fourth. The front entry deck got a similar makeover, and a wheelchair-accessible walkway connects the two. The design demonstrates that protecting against fire can enhance both safety and aesthetics.
