Project Overview

This home's active family of four enjoys entertaining in their home. They purchased this 1975 suburban ranch after renting it for years and loved everything about the home except for its lack of space for hosting large gatherings. They wanted to expand the kitchen and make it the social center of the home; create a cohesive industrial-modern aesthetic; and improve the flow between the home's social spaces. To achieve this, the existing dining room was incorporated into the kitchen floor plan by removing the walls and adding structural beams. The transformed space includes a nine-foot island with seating and storage, a walk-in pantry with barn doors, and a rustic cocktail bar.
