Project Overview

These Chestnut Hill clients desired to transform an underused covered side porch into a much-needed entrance closet for storage and function. Exterior design in keeping with their 1880 Philadelphia home, constructed of Wissahickon schist with Victorian detailing, was essential. The preservation of turned columns, detailed cookie-cutter frieze, and the original color scheme was key. Marrying old and new materials was challenging. The result is a finely detailed, proportioned enclosed porch that seamlessly integrates function, blending the newly enclosed space as though it had always been part of the home.
