Project Overview

Every time the homeowners looked out their French doors to nowhere, they wondered if the doors were supposed to lead to a deck or something. But a previous renovation had fizzled before that issue was fixed. The owners realized they didn't need another deck; they wanted a porch that overlooks their swimming pool patio below and the fields and woods beyond. Those once idle French doors now lead to a spectacularly simple, restful and beautiful space. The stairway down from the porch is finished with wrought iron railings, which were continued around the perimeter of the raised patio and on the Juliet balcony above.
