Project Overview

The client wanted a private accessory dwelling unit for guests. A top priority was preserving as much of the original footprint, materials and character of the initial structure as possible. The exposed trusses were especially important; the client loves the look of the new stained wood and replacement materials that match the old, preserved wood. The net result was a structure that preserves its old, rustic appearance on the exterior, while on the interior, a careful blend of the old rustic with contemporary finishes was achieved. The cottage also added to the resale value of the property, which was another important goal.
